NFL COMBINE AND WORKOUT ASSESSMENT SAMPLE:

MASON CROSBY, COLORADO - DRAFTED BY GREEN BAY
Holds 31 Records at the Univ. of Colorado including 15 field goals over 15 yards.

Scouting Assessment Overview: Very strong right footed kicker. Fundamentally sound for the most part. Has some correctable things happening in his stepping approach and set up and is improving leg action efficientcy working on finer points which seems to be improving control. Has 60+ yard field goal range and 4.2+ 70-80+ yard kick off power. (View Full Scouting and Training Report).

Opinion: Was knocked hard for inconsistency at the NFL Skills Challenge, NFL combine and several short kick offs at the Senior Bowl. Holds at the NFL Combine were upsetting timing. Had a slight hitch in his alignment and approach angle that was squared up with NFL Training Preparations in Reno, NV in April then again in July in Las Vegas just before Training Camp. He should have been drafted higher (3-4th round) was a steal for the Packers in the 7th round. . Has overcome those obstacles.

Projections: among top NFL Kickers. Should enjoy lengthy, healthy - long lasting career.

Player Progress Update: Beat out veteran Dave Rayner (Who went to the Chiefs 3 games) for the starting role. Set a NFL Rookie Record in Week 1 kicking a 50+ yard field goal and game winner in first NFL regular season game. Is tied in week 14 for the NFL's top scorer.

NFL Teams withNeeds that Passed up Crosby:
  1. Kansas City Chiefs - Drafted Justin Medlock in the 4th round out of UCLA - He was a good looking prospect on paper but struggled with the winds and never got comfortable. He washed out after week 1 when the team optioned for vetaran Dave Rayner who was excellent in pre season competing with Crosby in Green Bay but struggling a few games later optioned for John Carney who had been filling in temporarily for Josh Scobee in Jacksonville.

  2. Dallas Cowboys - Drafted Nick Folk in the 6th round (178th overall) out of Arizona. Folk was rated No. 2 prospect rated 2007 Draft Prospects is tied with Crosby for NFL top scorer into week 14. He's been excellent on field goals could be longer on kick offs.

  3. New York Giants - Optioned to pick up free agent Lawrence Tynes from Kansas City who was at times fantastic kicking 56 yard game winners but was critisized for spraying makeable kicks even though Kansas City is very windy.
